Ryan Lakey has been involved in baseball his entire life. From April 2000 to June 2010 Ryan worked in the visiting clubhouse for the Houston Astros.  There he would go on to batboy over 600 games as well as doing all the other duties that come with being a clubhouse attendant.  

 

In September 2010 Ryan was hired by Texas Rangers President Nolan Ryan.  For two years as a video scout he traveled all over the country filming and editing videos of players along with writing reports on many of the country’s top prospects.  

 

In February 2013 Ryan went on to work for the Toronto Blue Jays as a scout on the professional side.  Along with scouting many major and minor league clubs Ryan was also in charge of scouting the entire Independent Leagues (5 leagues/ 45 teams).

 

In 2015 Ryan joined the Toronto Blue Jays Low A Minor League affiliate as a video scout/coach.  He traveled the entire season with the club filming every pitch and swing of the team along with prospects from other organizations.  The video was used by the Toronto Blue Jays scouting department, coaches and instructors to help improve players performance.

 

In April 2016 Ryan accepted a video scouting position with Major League Baseball and the Scouting Bureau.  Once again he has been all over the country filming and writing reports on many of the top players for the amateur draft.

 

Ryan comes from a scouting background.  His father is the Major League Scouting Director for the Philadelphia Phillies and is in his 47th year of professional scouting, and his uncle also scouted for the Astros and Mets for over 35 years.

Since 2012 Ryan has filmed over 125 high school and college players all over the country that have gone on to play professionally.  Ryan has a wealth of experience and connections to many college coaches and people in the industry.  His unique set of skills in scouting and video make him the perfect candidate to help you or your athlete get to the next level.
